In brief
UK IPTV channels are sold as part of large international line-ups, and the headline totals on plan pages count every country at once. A figure like 57,000+ tells you the list is broad. It does not tell you whether the UK channels your household watches are in it, whether the regional versions you need are there, or how any of it plays on your line. This guide explains how to read a package on what it publishes, how the five services we cover compare on those figures, and what to check in the UK section during a free trial.

What a UK IPTV channels total can and cannot tell you
A channel total is a count of every entry in the list across every country the service carries. It is a reasonable way to compare overall breadth between services. It is a poor way to judge a UK package, for three reasons.
- The UK section is a slice of the whole. Most of a large list serves other countries and languages. The UK part is a fraction of the headline figure.
- Regional versions count separately. The same channel can appear in several regional versions, and each adds to the total. What matters to you is whether your region’s version is there.
- Quality versions can count separately too. Some lists carry a channel in more than one picture quality, which adds entries without adding anything new to watch.
None of that makes a total dishonest. It simply answers a different question from the one a UK household is asking. So we use totals for shortlisting and leave the UK question to the trial.
How we judge the packages here
We read each provider’s plan page and compare live channel counts, films and series counts, prices at every term, trial terms and device lists. Our ranking rests on those figures, with no stability or uptime scores, because those depend on the service’s servers on the night and on your connection at home.
We do not name channels, and we do not claim any package carries a particular one. That is for you to confirm, on your own screen, during the trial.
The five packages on published figures
All five list the same devices: Fire TV Stick, Android, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Smart TV, MAG box and PC. All five recommend 25 Mbps for 4K. Each has a channel-list editor in its dashboard.

Figures from each provider’s plan page.
VIPSATV lists the largest line-up and library and shares the lowest rolling month at £11.99. Its trial runs through an account signup and a free checkout with an email, no card. It also lets you name each connection. That combination is why it sits first, and it is the one we would open first to check the UK section: VIPSATV’s 24-hour trial is the cheapest way to see it on your own line.
RoomateTV is the cheapest per month from six months upward, and its trial comes straight from the checkout. Firstchannels shares the £11.99 rolling month and lists 50,000+ channels, but its two-year plan is the highest per-month rate here, and setup goes through a third-party player app. Clixwatch pairs 39,000+ channels with a 200,000-title library. Streamtion has the smallest list and the flattest price ladder.
Reading the UK section during a trial
Before the trial starts, write down the channels your household watches in a normal week. Then work through this list.
- Find the UK group. Channel lists are grouped into sections, usually by country. Use the player’s search if it has one.
- Tick off your channels. Open each one. A channel you cannot find is worth a second search under a shortened name before you mark it missing.
- Check your regional versions. If you watch regional news or programmes, make sure the version for your area is there, not just a different region’s.
- Look at the quality versions. Where a channel appears more than once, open each and keep the one that plays best on your setup.
- Compare the guide with the screen. Now and next should match what is playing. An hour out usually points to a time zone setting. Our EPG guide covers guide faults.
- Note anything that will not start. A channel that fails to open once may be a blip; one that fails every time is worth asking support about during the trial.
Trimming the list to what you watch
Once a service passes that check, use its dashboard editor. Every one of the five has one, and it trims the line-up the player receives down to your own channels. A list cut from tens of thousands of entries to the few dozen you watch is quicker to scroll, easier on a remote and makes the guide far more readable.
Do it before you set up the player on every device, so each one loads the shorter list from the start. On VIPSATV, name each connection at the same time so you can see which device is which in the account.
Judging stability on your own line
Completeness can be checked in an afternoon. Stability cannot, because it depends on the hour. Watch a few of your channels at the time your household normally watches, with everyone else online as usual.
When something stutters, sort the cause before blaming the package:
- Every channel stalls at once: usually your connection. Run a speed test at that hour.
- One channel stalls while others play: that particular stream.
- Stalls only in the evening: compare at that hour on the trial before choosing a long term.
- Stalls on Wi-Fi but not on a cable: fix the network first.
Our buffering guide sets the home checks out in order, and the reliability guide explains how we approach stability questions on this site.
The player you pair with the list
The player decides how the list and guide are shown and how it behaves when a stream stops. IPTV Smarters Pro accepts Xtream Codes logins and M3U links. TiviMate and OTT Navigator are Android apps with no iOS version. On Apple TV, check the App Store listing for tvOS support. The IPTV player guide covers the choice, with platform detail in the Android app guide, the Apple TV apps guide and the Samsung Smart TV guide. For Fire TV devices, the Firestick setup guide walks through it.
Choosing a term
Once the UK section passes and the evenings look steady, the choice comes down to price at the term you want. On published figures, VIPSATV and Firstchannels share the cheapest rolling month, RoomateTV is cheapest per month from six months up, and Firstchannels’ two-year plan is the dearest per month over the long term. For the full ranking, see our UK IPTV subscription rankings. Take the trial first: it is the only check that covers your channels on your line.
Worth knowing
Completeness and stability are two different questions
Completeness asks whether the channels you watch are in the list. Stability asks whether they play smoothly on your line at the hour you watch. A package can do well on one and badly on the other, so it helps to check them separately.
Completeness can be checked in minutes during a trial: open the UK section and tick off your list. Stability needs a little longer, because it has to be seen at your busy hour, on your connection, with the rest of the household online.
Neither shows up in a channel total. That is why we compare totals only as a sign of breadth and send you to the trial for everything else.
Separating the package from your own line
Many problems blamed on a package start at home. Wi-Fi behind a television, a shared connection that slows in the evening and a large download in another room can all make a good stream stutter.
A simple pattern helps. If every channel stalls together, it is usually the connection. If one channel stalls while the rest play, it is that stream. If stalls come only at one time of day, compare at that hour on the trial.
A wired connection removes the commonest home cause, which makes whatever you see on the trial a fairer picture of the service itself.
Common questions
How many UK IPTV channels does a household need?
Far fewer than any total on a plan page. Most households watch a short list every week. Write that list down before a trial and check each channel on it, rather than comparing totals.
Does a bigger channel count mean a better package?
It means a wider international list, which is a fair sign of breadth. It does not tell you how many UK channels are included, whether the regional versions you need are there, or how the streams behave on your line.
Are all UK channels included in every package?
Do not assume so. No plan page gives a UK channel list we can compare fairly, so open the UK section during the trial and look for each channel you watch.
Can I remove channels I never watch?
Yes. Each of the five services we cover has a channel-list editor in its account dashboard that trims the line-up to your own channels, which makes the list and the guide far easier to use.
Why do some channels drop while others play?
If one channel stalls while others play, that stream is the likely cause. If every channel stalls at once, look at your connection first. If problems only appear in the evening, compare on the trial at that hour before deciding.
