What a trial can and cannot show

A 24-hour trial is short, but it is the only look you get at a service on your own broadband, your own devices and your own viewing hours. Published channel counts cannot tell you how a stream behaves on your line.

What a trial cannot show is how a provider behaves months later. That is the case for paying monthly at first: it keeps the decision open until you have watched enough to be sure.

What usually goes wrong

The common problems are dull rather than dramatic: a channel you rely on is missing from the list, an app update changes how a player behaves on one device, or the picture struggles at the one hour everybody is online.

None of these show up in a specification sheet. Check the channels you care about during the trial, keep your player up to date, and watch at your own peak time before committing.
